Introduction:
The ladies had to go by all of these rules because if they didn’t they were judged badly. They had to do what the rules were. At a ball room they had to dance with every gentleman that invited them to dance and if they said no they had to give them a good enough reason why they didn’t want to go dance with them. When crossing the street they had pull up their dress up to their ankles and hold her gown on the right hand and if not they were said to be bulgur. It was very strict back then with the women but now things have changed a lot!

Explaining:
People like Emily decided to stay out of the streets because they might not have wanted to be told what to do. Another reason why is because they had to pay their taxes before they could walk in the street. Women like her might be judged by the guys they dated like Emily was when she was dating homer. She was said to be crazy at times. That’s why she and other women might have not wanted to walk out in the street.
